Internationalized Criminal Tribunals

The international community has cooperated to establish several tribunals to prosecute international crimes, in addition to the ICC, ICTY and ICTR.   These domestic courts have been specially created as part of an international effort to try individuals for crimes under international law and their jurisdiction may be limited to specific periods of time corresponding to particularly intense periods of conflict or unrest involving widespread human rights abuses.  In other cases, domestic judiciaries have created special chambers to deal with war crimes.  Former and existing internationalized criminal tribunals and domestic courts prosecuting war crimes, include:
